Reading is such a wonderful activity. It is one of the most important ingredients to become all that you can be. It develops your brain. It provides a window into the world around you. It can help you become a better person.
Reading is better when it is done together. Reading together establishes confidence and motivates participation.
Reading together is learning together.
Here are the tips for Reading Together. It is from the Oxford University Press.
1. Talk about the title and the picture on the front cover.
2. Discuss what you think the story might be about.
3. Read the story together, inviting your child to read as much of it as they can.
4. Give lots of praise as your child reads, and help them when necessary.
5. If they get stuck, try reading the first sound of the word, or break the word into chunks, or read the whole sentence again. Focus on the meaning.
6. Re-read the story later, encouraging your child to read as much of it as they can. Children enjoy re-reading stories and this helps to build their confidence.
Have fun reading together!
